Fire Risk Assessments
A fire risk assessment is imperative to the development of robust fire safety and is a legal requirement of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
The aim of a fire risk assessment is to make buildings safer places to be, through reducing the likelihood of a fire occurring and reducing the consequences for people within the building.
Our expert fire risk surveyors have years of experience in conducting fire risk assessments at business premises of all sizes, and are BAFE SP205 Accredited Fire Risk Assessors.
What is a Fire Risk Assessment?
A fire risk assessment is a thorough and methodical look at your site, the activities that occur there and the likelihood that a fire could begin and cause harm to those in and around the premises.
The aims of the fire risk assessment are:
- To identify the fire hazards on site
- To identify the people that may be at risk from those hazards
- To evaluate the severity of the risk to those people
- To determine whether the existing control measures are adequate, and implement additional control measures where appropriate
We produce for you a plain English document that details all the above.
Who Needs a Fire Risk Assessment?
If you occupy business premises it is most likely that you are required by law to carry out a fire risk assessment. The law requires the following buildings to have a fire risk assessment:-
- Places of assembly, such as pubs and clubs
- Residential care and nursing homes
- Houses in multiple occupation
- Hotels, guest houses and boarding houses
- Blocks of flats
If you employ 5 or more people, the significant findings of the Fire Risk Assessment must be recorded.
How Much is a Fire Risk Assessment?
The cost of a fire risk assessment varies depending on the size and type of the building, the complexity of the internal arrangements and processes being carried out in the building. We also offer the option of providing a plan of the building to support the fire risk assessment, which will show all fire safety provisions and certain hazards.
However, SecuriPlex prides itself on providing cost effective services to our clients, and delivering high quality fire risk assessments in accordance with PAS79, the British Standard specification and methodology for carrying out fire risk assessments.
